Different Kinds of Stains and Ways to Remove them:
1- Tea Stains:
Tea stains on carpets are probably the most common stains that we encounter in our tea loving households. These stains are also the most difficult to remove if they are not cleaned immediately. As tea contains tannins, a natural astringent compound that can stain fabric, upholstery, cups and even teeth. And since our suhoor & iftaar meals are incomplete without tea, you need to learn how to tackle these demon stains quickly and efficiently.
Remove Tea Stains from Carpet Using WD-40:
The first step whenever there is spillage of tea is to blot or scoop any excess tea as you can with a tissue paper. Learn how to blot excess tea and you will be surprised to know how it facilitates stain removal. Now use a white cleaning cloth and spray some WD-40 on it. Also don’t forget to do a patch test on your carpet before tackling the stained area. Voila! Your carpet is clean as new.
2- Ketchup Stains:
We love to have fried foods during Ramzan, which means that ketchup and chutneys are a necessary condiment on our suhoor & iftaar dastarkhuwan. Kids specially love to douse their food in ketchup, which often ends in staining the carpet in their haste and carelessness. WD-40 is the ultimate stain remover as it helps in blotting the stain out of the material completely. This ensures that no mess is made and the stain is removed in a hassle-free manner. Spray WD-40 on a cleaning rag and dab it onto the stain. The ketchup particles slowly disintegrate and stick on the cloth. Keep on doing this till the entire area is clean. Use detergent and water to clean the area from WD-40 after the stain is removed.
3- Rust Stains:
If you have furniture like chairs and tables with metal feet, then rust stains are bound to be lurking on your carpets. Rust spreads quite quickly onto carpets as soon as it comes in contact with them. If you were unaware of these nasty stains and have discovered quite a few in your carpets, don’t panic. Remove rust stains using WD-40:
We all know that WD-40 is the best rust removing chemical available in the market. But did you know that it can be used to remove rust stains from carpets & fabrics too?
Simply spray some WD-40 on the stain itself. Allow the chemical to sit for a while to work its magic. Then use an old toothbrush and gently rub on the affected area. Now wipe the area using a cleaning cloth. It is advisable to do a patch test before targeting bigger areas. Some carpet materials are sensitive to chemicals. Therefore, if you do not wish to apply WD-40 directly on the rust stain, you can spray it on a piece of cloth and use it to clean the stain. Gently rub the cloth on the affected area, reply the chemical on the cloth, if the stain persists and repeat.

- Most of the lipsticks available in the market today contain grease in them, which makes removing them from the carpet a bit difficult. Use a white cleaning cloth and soak it in some rubbing alcohol. Dab the cloth on the lipstick stain directly. Dabbing is key or otherwise the stain will become messy. Then wash the area with some detergent and water.
- Foundation spills need to be tackled in a similar manner too. Just use hydrogen peroxide instead of rubbing alcohol.
