The first step is to remove the surface level dirt & grime that tends to accumulate regularly. Be it the treadmill, the bikes, the bells, bars and rollers, the parallettes, or gliding discs, or the heavy strength training equipment that includes power racks, power towers, curling benches, leg press, and chest press machines. Every piece of equipment needs a good wipe down with a dampened microfiber towel. While gently cleaning all the surfaces, pay special attention to the various crevices in the gym equipment. Pay special attention to cup holders, screens, handles, and grips.
Dumbbells and barbells rods tend to acquire rust; because of sweat and dirt. You can remove traces of oxide with WD-40 Multi-use Product. Spray the product on the affected area and leave it to act for a few minutes. If the rust deposits are stubborn, use a nylon-bristled brush to scrub the metal surface. After removal, refine the surface with sandpaper. If there are only faint traces of oxidization, wiping with a cleaning rag should do the job.
Clamps, spring clips, screwed ferrules, and sleeves that hold weights into position on rods get corroded. WD-40 Multi-use Product will help you remove any residual buildup from these areas effectively.
After cleaning the surface dirt & grime, it is time to sanitize & disinfect the gym equipment.
Do not use commercial cleaners as they are harsh and can fade and deteriorate the equipment. The best way to sanitize your gym equipment is to use sanitizing wipes. They will help you remove sweat stains and any other leftover dirt or grime too! Let the equipment air dry after you have used the wipes.
After you finish sanitization, it is time to disinfect the gym equipment. Use a fast-acting disinfectant in a spray bottle. Do not spray directly on any equipment. Spray the solution on a clean cloth and wipe down all the surfaces. Every disinfectant has a dwell time. It means the surface needs to stay wet for that particular amount of time to kill the pathogens. Avoid touching the equipment during this time frame.
Like other machines, gym equipment also needs lubrication to function smoothly.
An ideal lubricant for gym equipment like the treadmill should be silicone-based, non-dripping, and should provide long-lasting lubrication. WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant is best for lubricating the belt of the treadmill. First & foremost, you need to relax your treadmill’s belt. Follow your manufacturer’s manual for instructions. Now lift the belt strip and apply a light spray of WD-40 Silicone Lubricant to the underside surface.
After applying the lubricant, tighten the belt; and run the machine at a low speed. It distributes the product evenly everywhere. Wipe away any excess product that you may see & double check the belt to be sure that it is secure before use.
You can use WD-40 Specialist Silicone lubricant to lubricate the bushings of barbell rods as well.
