Mirrors do not just have functional usage in homes but are being used as décor items too. They add depth & character to an otherwise plain & monotonous interior. But an unclean & streaky glass surface/mirror stands out like a sore thumb. Plus, kitchen & bathroom windows & mirrors are prone to getting watermarks due to stray water droplets lurking around the corner. You will find many tips & techniques to clean mirrors at home. You can try them out and see which one best suit your needs and requirements. Here are some steps you can follow for water spot removal from mirrors and windows and make them as good as new.
White vinegar
Water
Clean towel or cloth
White vinegar is a commonly found item in most Pakistani kitchens. We use it in salads and to make our rice fluffy & long. But today, we will be using it to clean our mirrors. Make a mixture using equal parts of white vinegar and water. You can make the mixture in a spray bottle or any container at your convenience. You can use tap water. A little pro tip is to avoid using hard water. The reason is that hard water is one of the reasons behind watermarks formation on mirrors. Therefore, you want to choose water with fewer minerals like distilled water.
Before you begin, don’t forget to give a little stir/shake to your mirror cleaning mixture. It is a simple but effective tip to activate the cleaning agent. Now take a towel and soak it into the solution. You can wipe the mirror down from the top in zig-zag lines or using circular motions.
Some smudge marks & watermarks need extra attention. You can press the towel on these areas for some minutes. The acidity of the vinegar will help in softening the minerals in hard water, which will make the removal of these spots easy. You can also drape the wet towel on the mirror or window glass until the water spots disappear.
If you want to save yourself from all the above hassle, we have a simpler solution for you. WD-40 Multi-use product not only effectively removes rust but also helps in mirror cleaning.
