Look for a shaded place to wash your bike. You may be wondering why? Well! The sun dries up the soap faster and leaves water streaks and soap marks all over the surface, which are difficult to remove. The next thing to take care of is the exhaust pipe. Plug it up or insert a clean rag to close it. Since water in the exhaust system will lead to many problems once you hit the road.
Another thing to keep in mind is to ensure that the bike has cooled down before you begin to wash it. If you had taken it for a spin, wait for a while till the engine & exhaust system have cooled off. Cover any wires, fuses, or exposed electrical components with plastic bags to avoid getting wet.
Before the actual washing, we suggest rinsing your bike with water to remove loose dirt. For heavily soiled areas, like the chain, you can use WD-40 Fast Acting Degreaser. Spray it on the affected areas, and then after some resting time, wipe them using a soft clean cloth.
Now, it’s time for the good old wash. Choose a mild detergent to clean your bike thoroughly and dissolve it in a bucket of water. Use two buckets of water for washing your motorbike. The two bucket method is best because it ensures that your cleaning device does not hold any dirt particles to scratch the motorbike surface.
We recommend using a sponge to clean the chrome parts, seats, and headlights. To clean the wheels and other metallic areas, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the dirt & gunk. Keep rinsing the sponge and cleaning brush in the clean water regularly.
Rinse your motorcycle with plenty of water thoroughly. Don’t waste too much time & quickly rinse the motorbike after you finish lathering it up. Also, try to be thorough while you hose down the motorbike, as any leftover detergent particles or remaining residue can cause corrosion.
Use a microfiber cloth to dry up the motorbike. Microfiber cloths are ideal for cleaning. They can absorb water eight times their weight, making them perfect for drying surfaces & objects. Furthermore, their soft fibers ensure that they don’t leave any scratches on the paintwork.
After drying, you must lubricate all the exposed metallic parts. Lubrication ensures that these parts do not corrode or acquire rust. WD-40 Multi-use Product is the best choice for this job. Its applicator helps you reach the hidden nooks & crannies effectively.
