Packing your luggage & the zipper refuses to budge? Going for a trip & the luggage zipper is stuck? Is the universe signaling you to postpone your trip? Hell, no! The universe is signaling you to learn how to lubricate & loosen stuck zippers.
Clean Lint Cloth or Wash Cloth
Warm water
Soap
You may find it hard to believe, but; zippers too need to be cleaned along with the luggage after you’re back from a trip. The reason is that the specks of dust can ruin your luggage zippers. It is not a very long & tedious process and will hardly take few minutes. But it will save you from a lot of hassle when you’re short of time.
The method to clean the zippers is simple. Use a gentle soap & warm water to free up all the grime & dirt stuck between the teeth. Use a washcloth to scrub over the zipper teeth with caution. After cleaning the dirt & grime, make sure that the entire soapy residue is also wiped; with the help of a clean cloth.
Another alternative is to use an air blower. We use it to remove dirt stuck between the keys of a keyboard. Therefore, it will also help in blowing dirt between the teeth of zippers too. For a quick cleaning method, an air blower is quite effective
After cleaning the zipper, the next step is to lubricate them. You will find many lubricants inside your homes, like a candle, lip balm, olive oil & even graphite pencils. In some cases, these lubricants might not work. For this, we recommend using WD-40 Multi-use Product.
It repels moisture & water from any surface that it is applied over. That is the reason WD-40 Multi-use Product not only lubricates your luggage zippers but protects them from rust & corrosion. Lubrication prevents zippers from getting damaged during the trip.
The method to apply WD-40 Multiuse product is simple. Get hold of a clean washcloth or lint cloth. Apply some WD-40 MUP on one corner of the cleaning cloth. Be careful that you don’t spray too much. Now after tightly gripping the zippers, run the wet side over the zipper tracks. Repeat this process till you finish lubricating the entire zipper with WD-40. Make sure that you wipe away any excess residue that is left.
Once you have finished applying WD-40, test your zippers. They will no longer be stuck & open smoothly without any hassle.
Remember to wash your hands after use, especially if they came into contact with WD-40.
Next, you will grip one side of the luggage zippers with the cloth and run the wet side over the zipper tracks. This step needs to be repeated on the other side of the zipper tracks as well. Make sure to clean any excess residue away.
