Are you annoyed when you have to use herculean strength to open the sliding door of your patio? Do you feel embarrassed when the sliding door of your drawing room refuses to budge in front of your guests? Well! The solution is to either clean the sliding door thoroughly or lubricate sliding door tracks properly.
Sliding doors are practical & add value to the overall aesthetics of a room. But unlike traditional doors, they need to be cleaned and lubricated routinely. Otherwise, they will become non-functional & give you a headache. The process of cleaning & lubricating sliding doors is simple. Just follow these steps & you will finish the task in no time.
Dry cloth
Screwdriver
WD-40® Multi-use Product
We recommend removing the door from the tracks using screwdriver for a more thorough cleaning. Carefully, take hold of the door and lift it so that the wheels of the door clear the tracking. Pull it towards you simultaneously. You may need to use a screwdriver to help separate the wheels from the track prize. After removing the door, place it on a table top so that you can work on it easily.
The tracks of a sliding door often accumulate hair, dirt & debris if not cleaned regularly. To break this clump of debris & hair, use a wire brush or an old toothbrush. Now, use the crevice tool of a vacuum to clean the tracks.
Sometimes, the door tracks appear clean whereas the hair & debris gets stuck in the wheels of the door. This restricts the movement of the sliding door. Therefore, after cleaning the door tracks, you need to focus your attention on the roller wheels. Follow the same process as explained in the previous step & clean the wheels from all unwanted particles, dirt & grime.
For this next step, you will need to grab your can of WD-40 Multi-Use Product! It will help you lubricate your tracks as well as the roller wheels. Spray it properly along the door tracks & on the wheels. Take a rag & wipe away any excess WD-40 that has been left behind. Give your doors a quick clean & reinstall them again.
