DIY crafting can become troublesome because of glue spills & glue residues on different household surfaces. It can be one of the most stubborn things to remove from any surface. But we are here to help you out of this sticky situation. This guide will help you remove glue residue effectively from any surface without specific cleaning products or any professional help.
WD-40® Multi-Use Product
Scraper or blade
Clean cloth
Hot soapy water
Sponge
Rag
Different surfaces react & bond differently to glue spills & glue residues. Dining tables, kitchen countertops, and lounge carpets are usual crafting spots. To tackle glue stains on glass & marble surfaces, you will need to take your scraper or a putty knife and scrape away any of the residues. Hold the blade or scraper flat against the surface you are scraping; and, gently scrape off the residue. Avoid using too much force or pressure, or you might end up scratching/ damaging the surface. For carpets, try blotting the residual glue in case of spillage. For dried glue, you can use a towel with some warm water to soften the glue & then try to peel it off.
Sometimes, glue residue is stubborn & scraping will not help you get rid of it completely. In this case, you might need to raise the intensity by grabbing your WD-40 Multi-Use Product. Spray the WD-40 Multi-Use Product directly onto the affected surface, leave it to soak into the residue for a couple of minutes. Now, take a rag and wipe the product away. Reapply as many times as you need to remove the most stubborn parts. We always recommend doing a patch test on a small area before applying WD40 Multiuse Product.
After you have removed the glue stains & glue residue from the surface, it is time to clean the surface. Fill a bowl with some hot soapy water, or you can use vinegar diluted in water. Then with a sponge or a clean cloth, scrub the area clean. It will help you remove the stickiness that glue residue leaves behind. For colored surfaces like carpets, vinegar can bleach the color. Therefore, don’t forget to do a patch test.
