First & foremost, remove loose dust & dirt from door handles. Use a soft and clean cloth to dust off doorknobs, handles, & levers. You can even make this step a part of your daily dusting routine. It will ensure that dirt & gunk do not accumulate on door hardware.
For this step, mix a bowl of warm water and some liquid soap. Take a clean cloth soaked in the mixture and use this to clean the doorknobs and handles. Whether your door hardware is stainless steel, brass, or copper, warm soapy water will help remove gunk & dirt deposits thoroughly. You do not need any special cleaners as they might damage the coating of your door hardware.
Once you have scrubbed the doorknob and removed the dirt and grime from the surface, rinse the doorknobs and handles with some clean water to remove all remaining dirt and excess mixture used. You can use a damp cloth to wipe down and clean the surfaces.
Use your WD-40 Multi-Use Product to lubricate and protect the door hardware. Grab your can of WD-40 spray the inner mechanism to lubricate the doorknob. Also, spray the doorknob itself to protect it from corrosion and rust. WD-40 Multi-use Product also helps restore the shine & luster of brass and stainless-steel door hardware, an added plus.
