Do you like to explore the hidden places in your car? Are you a lover of the night sky & continuously look for spots to do star gazing? If your answer is yes to any of the above questions, we are sure that you must take good care of your vehicle. Because all these excursions cannot be possible without maintaining & taking care of your car, that is your partner in crime on these exploration journeys. Now, you might know that as an explorer, you often have to travel at night & in places where the visibility is very low. In all these situations, your headlights need to be in perfect working condition. Foggy & blurry headlights are a complete no-no if you wish to embark on a long journey. Before we delve into the process of cleaning, let’s understand why headlights become foggy over time. Headlight lenses these days are made from thick plastic called polycarbonate. Due to the exposure to the sun’s UV rays, they deteriorate & break down, causing the headlight to appear foggy & blurry. Not only this, but it also causes the light to appear dimmed & yellowish. There is no need to worry as the method to clean foggy headlights is simple & can be done at home.
Clean Cloth
Rag
Sponge
Warm soapy water
Towel or Microfiber cloth
Before you begin to clean the fogginess of your headlights, you need to make sure the headlights are clean of dirt & grime. Grab a rag and thoroughly wipe the headlights to remove any dirt, dust, or grime that may have built upon them. You may wet the cleaning cloth as it will help remove the dirt & grime more thoroughly.
Now that the headlights are clear of any dirt, grime, or dust, we can go ahead and apply a generous amount of WD-40 Multi-Use Product onto a clean cloth. Wipe the surface of the headlight thoroughly, making sure you cover the entire surface of the headlight. You can use a soft-bristled brush to work the product in a circular motion.
After completing one headlight, you need to repeat the process on the headlight on the other side. Again, making sure you apply the WD-40 Multi-Use Product onto a cloth and wiping the entire surface of the headlight.
Once complete, you need to wash the headlights with some warm soapy water and a sponge. The soapy water will help to clean any leftover grime or residue. Not only this, but it will also help to remove any excess product that is left behind after cleaning. Remember to dry once complete with a towel or microfiber cloth.
