How to remove limestone stains & bring the shine back on your faucets, sinks & showers?

Therefore, today we will teach you how to remove limescale deposits. We will also recommend ways that you can adopt to prevent limescale formation. Let’s get started!

Step 1
Remove limestone stains with white vinegar!
White vinegar is available in households and is a non-expensive yet excellent limestone remover. Make a solution using white vinegar & water in equal parts in a spray bottle. Spray on the surface to be treated & then wipe it with a cloth. If you don’t have a spray bottle, you may soak a clean cloth in this solution. Then rub the limestone deposits with the soaked cloth. - For taps & showerheads, we recommend unscrewing them & soaking in the vinegar solution overnight. For sinks & shower stalls, spray the vinegar solution & give it a good rub with a clean cloth to remove all the limestone deposits. Don’t forget to rinse with plain water afterward.
- Fill the electric kettle with the vinegar solution & leave it overnight. Rinse thoroughly with plain water in the morning. Voila! Your kettle will be as good as new.
- For coffee machines, add the vinegar solution to the water compartment. Then run the coffee machine through its process once. Then repeat this step with plain water twice.
- To remove limescale deposits in washing machines, add one large cup of vinegar in place of your detergent and then run the washing machine on a normal wash cycle. Vinegar helps you tackle limescale deposits and even rid the machine of mold & bacteria.
- In the case of dishwashers, pour the white vinegar into the bottom of an empty dishwasher & run a normal wash cycle. It will remove limescale deposits & freshen up the machine.
Step 2
Remove limestone stains with baking soda!
For stubborn limestone deposits, baking soda works the best.
Dissolve three tablespoons of baking soda with one tablespoon of water, the mixture should be a little pasty. Then apply it to the stain to be treated and allow it to dry. Rub the area with an old toothbrush. Rinse with clear water & wipe the area with a cleaning rag.
Step 3
Remove limestone stains with WD-40!

- Wipe each surface after every contact with water. Keep a dry cloth or towel in your bathroom. After showering, wipe the shower walls and tap with the cloth/towel. Use the same way to prevent limescale formation in your kitchen by wiping the sink & tap as soon as you finish doing the dishes. It isn’t the most practical approach but, it works!
- The second solution is to invest in a water softener. It is an expensive but effective and sustainable solution! The water softener will filter your water and rid it of calcium and magnesium ions to make it softer. Install a water softener yourself, or you can get it done by a plumber.
