Women love to wear lipsticks but wearing lipstick stains is a complete no-no! You must have seen a lot of DIY tricks & tips that help us keep our lipsticks fresh for long hours. But, the irony of the situation is that no matter how quickly a lipstick fades after its application, lipstick stains are stubborn & do not fade out.
Now, imagine if your bright red lipstick falls accidentally & stains your plush off-white carpet. Or your toddler decides to use your branded lipstick to create doodles on your favorite handbag. These situations are scary. But today, we will teach you how to remove lipstick stains from fabrics & other surfaces without sweating your brow.
Irrespective of the location of the lipstick stain, the method to remove it remains the same. Although, if the lipstick stain is old and stubborn, you may have to perform one or two extra steps to remove it. You must check the care label of the fabric before you begin.
Clean piece of cloth/paper towel
Cold Water
Detergent
WD-40® Multi-use Product
This step is most effective when the stain is relatively fresh and hasn’t dried. Quickly blot the stain using a paper towel or a wet and clean cloth to remove the excess lipstick from the fabric. It will reduce the amount of effort required for the next steps.
If the stain is on a clothing item, quickly take it to the bathroom sink and rinse with cold water. Place the stained area under running cold water from the back. Continue rubbing the stained area gently. After doing this 3 to 4 times, check if the stain is still there.
If you find that the lipstick stain persists, take some laundry detergent and rub it on the stained area while it is still wet. Gently rub the detergent on the stained area and leave it on for a few minutes. It is necessary to break the stains that have gotten older. After a few minutes, rinse it again with cold water.
For lipstick stains on carpets, make a paste using warm water & detergent. Apply the paste to the stained area & rub it using a cloth. After the lipstick stain has been lifted off the carpet, clean it with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.
