Do you love to soak in the bathroom tub after a long tiring day at work? Does relaxing in the tub after an entire day of running errands sound promising?
However, bathtime can become frustrating and stressful if your bathroom tubs have unsightly brown patches of rust. Don’t feel dejected! We have the best solution for you.
Bathroom tubs are available in different materials like acrylic, porcelain & fiberglass. Commercial cleaners sometimes contain bleaching products that may damage the shine and color of the bathroom tub. Therefore, today we will teach you to remove rust stains from bathroom tubs with things readily available in your homes.
Lemon Juice
Vinegar
Salt
Microfiber Cloth
WD-40® Multi-use Product
Take half a cup of lemon juice and add 1-1.5 teaspoons full of salt. Stir to mix and form a solution. Apply on the rust stains directly or with the help of a cleaning brush. Let it stay there for an hour. The acid in the lemon juice reacts with the layer of rust on the surface. And the salt acts as a gentle abrasive that won’t leave scratches on the surface of your bathroom tub. After about an hour, use your bathtub scrubbing brush and scrub away the stains. Now rinse with water and wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth. Don’t forget to do a small patch test before applying the mixture on a large surface.
Vinegar is an excellent cleaner for many stains; as it contains acetic acid that functions in the same manner as lemon juice.
Vinegar, therefore, helps to remove rust easily, and the salt particles serve as gentle abrasives to help loosen the rust residue from the surface.
Use half a cup of white vinegar and two teaspoons of salt to make the mixture. Stir it and apply in the same manner as explained in the above step. We always advise doing a small patch test to ensure that the product is safe to be used and will not ruin or damage your bathtub.
In some cases, both of the earlier hacks may not work because the rust stains are stubborn and ancient. Also, you have to ensure that the adopted cleaning mixture is not damaging the bathtub due to its acidic nature.
That is why we want to recommend using WD-40 Multi-use Product. It is suitable for almost all surfaces and is the best rust stain remover on this planet. We know it may sound like an exaggeration, but you can try it to believe it.
Spray WD-40 Multi-use Product on the rust stains and leave it for 10 minutes. Now damp a clean cloth with the spray and scrub the rust stains to see them vanish in the thin air. Remember to rinse the bathtub with water thoroughly to remove any remaining chemical residue before you prepare a hot bath.
